DEXTER -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats basketball fell to 3-2 with a SEMO Conference loss to Jackson 45-38 on Tuesday night at the Bearcat Event Center.

Dexter held a slim 23-19 lead at halftime but Jackson outscored the Lady Bearcats 12-5 in the third to pull ahead 31-28 and extended the lead in the fourth quarter with free throws. For the game, Jackson finished 16 of 21 from the charity stripe.

Dexter was led in scoring by Hanna Noe's nine points while Brittany Harris had eight and Paige Patterson seven.

Dru Haertling finished with 25 points for Jackson, including finishing a perfect 11 of 11 from the free throw line.

Jackson won the junior varsity contest 34-24.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Chaffee 69, East Prairie 45

CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee boys basketball team overcame a slow start and put away East Prairie 69-45 at home Tuesday night.

Chaffee trailed 12-11 after one quarter but took a 30-19 lead into halftime. The Red Devils then put the game away in the third quarter.

Jordan Yahn led Chaffee (2-0) with 17 points while Charlie Montgomery and Alex Crowe added 12 and 10 respectively.

East Prairie's Phillip Latomondeer led the Eagles (1-3) with 12 points.

Bernie 67, Scott City 53

SCOTT CITY -- The Bernie Mules used a strong fourth quarter to get past Scott City on the road Tuesday night 67-53.

Bernie (3-1) held a 49-44 lead going into the final frame but pulled away late with the held of Jesse Shelton and David Baker. Each scored eight points in the final quarter to help the Mules earn the win. Baker led the Mules in scoring with 23 points while Shelton finished with 21.

Scott City (2-2) was led by Zach Cotner's 16 points while Jonathan McFall and Landon Robert had 12 and 11 respectively.

Sikeston 56, Charleston 26

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston eighth grade basketball team improved to 5-0 with a 56-26 win over Charleston on Tuesday night.

Sikeston held a 10-3 lead after one quarter but their full court pressure took its toll in the second quarter as the Bulldogs extended their lead to 25-14 at the half. Sikeston exploded in the third quarter to outscore Charleston 28-10 and put the game away.

Dominique Dyes finished with 29 points to lead the Bulldogs while Cedric McIntyre added 12.

Sikeston will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to New Madrid County Central.

Sikeston 54, Charleston 35

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston seventh grade basketball team rebounded from their first loss of the season to defeat Charleston 54-35 on Tuesday night.

Sikeston, who lost Friday to Poplar Bluff in the finals of the Sikeston Invitational, started slow against Charleston, falling behind 11-8 after one quarter. However the Bulldog pressure began causing the Bluejays fits in the second quarter as Sikeston held a 27-18 lead at halftime.

The pressure continued to bother Charleston in the second half as Sikeston won going away.

"We started out slow and subbed for all five starters," said Sikeston coach Eric Voorhees. "Eventually our press wore them down. Everybody contributed which is always good."

Sikeston (5-1) was led in scoring by Sam Cox who finished with 22. Jayden Lane and McKenzie Worth each added 8 points apiece.
