SIKESTON - Two traffic signals in Sikeston will have a new look.
The Missouri Department of Transportation is currently preparing to retrofit the signals on Route 114 (Malone Avenue) at South Kingshighway and South New Madrid Street with flashing yellow arrows.
The updated signals will feature flashing yellow arrows for left turning traffic, which will help increase efficiency during off-peak times.
A flashing yellow arrow will signify that drivers turning left should yield to oncoming traffic. A solid yellow arrow will indicate drivers should prepare to stop or complete the turn if in the intersection.
The signals will also display solid green arrows when left turning traffic has the right of way.
Weather permitting, work will begin Dec. 20 with the signal located at South New Madrid Street. The flashing yellow arrow is expected to be operation by the end of the day.
