DEXTER -- Mattie Irene Hoffman, 88, died Dec. 4, 2011, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter. DEXTER -- Mattie Irene Hoffman, 88, died Dec. 4, 2011, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter.

Born July 21, 1923, near Dexter, daughter of the late Elmer and Georgia Ann Culberson Grim, she had lived in Dexter most of her life and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter. She had worked at Bruce's Big Star and then the Piggly Wiggly Store for many years in bookkeeping and as a checker.

On Sept. 29, 1942, in Piggott, Ark., she married to Floyd James Hoffman, who preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2007.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Survivors include: three daughters and spouses, Judy and Jim Cochran of Doniphan, Jane Cathey and Susan and Steve Watkins of Dexter; one brother, LaRue Grim of San Francisco; and eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m.Thursday. The Rev. Tom Bass of Cape Girardeau will officiate.

Burial will be in the Dexter Cemetery.
