EAST PRAIRIE -- Mary Lloyd Ivie Piper, 89, died Dec. 6, 2011, at 6:05 a.m. at her sister's residence. Born Feb. 25, 1922, in Union County, Ky., to the late Fermon Harrison and Carrie Mae Ferrell Ivie, she lived most of her life in East Prairie where she was a certified nurse assistant and sit with the elderly, she was also a baby sitter in East Prairie. EAST PRAIRIE -- Mary Lloyd Ivie Piper, 89, died Dec. 6, 2011, at 6:05 a.m. at her sister's residence.

Born Feb. 25, 1922, in Union County, Ky., to the late Fermon Harrison and Carrie Mae Ferrell Ivie, she lived most of her life in East Prairie where she was a certified nurse assistant and sit with the elderly, she was also a baby sitter in East Prairie. She was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in East Prairie.

In 1942 she married Roy S. Piper, who preceded her in death on May 17, 1994.

Survivors include: one stepdaughter, Edna Katherine Rigdon of Providence, Ky.; one sister, Agnes Futch of East Prairie; seven nieces and nephews which she helped raised John Spainhoward of East Prairie, Sherry Bost of Sikeston, Diane Polley of Denver, Colo., James Ivie of New Madrid, Ronald Ivie of Lilbourn, Pam O'Dell and Michael B. O'Dell of East Prairie; and several grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, one stepson, Roy Thomas Piper; two brothers, Fermon Harrison Ivie Jr. and Joseph Harold Ivie; three sisters, Myrtle Ivie, Francile Ivie Spainhoward and Ollie Ivie preceded Mary in death.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with Dewayne Maynard officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
