CHARLESTON -- Bernita Parker, 52, died Feb. 20, 2012, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Jan. 27, 1960, in Charleston, to the late John and Willie Mae Treadwell Parker, she was a graduate of Charleston High School and Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She was formerly employed as the center director of the Charleston Head Start Program. She was a member of Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston where she was a missionary.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Parker.
Survivors include: two brothers, Michael Parker and Johnny Parker of Charleston; four sisters, Thelma Brown of Atlanta, Juanita Barner and Carolyn Thomas of Chicago and Johnna Kay Upchurch of Rock Island, Ill.; and her late brother's children whom she raised, Harvey Corbitt, JaMichael Parker and Jade Corbitt of Norfolk, Va.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at noon Saturday at Opportunity Church of God in Christ with the Elder Steve Betts, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Williams Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
