Charles Halter Jr.

BIRCH TREE -- Charles Wayne Halter Jr., 52, died Feb. 21, 2012, at his home in Birch Tree.

Born Sept. 25, 1959, in Lincoln, Neb., son of Mary Catherine French Halter of Birch Tree and the late Charles Wayne Halter Sr., Charles was a graduate of Sikeston Senior High School. He spent many years working on the river as a deck hand and First Mate. He loved animals and the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by close friends and the family he loved.

In addition to his mother, survivors include: one sister, Lucy Crawford and husband, Lannie, of Birch Tree; one daughter, Tiffany O'Neil of Sikeston; two sons, Randy Cook of Illinois and Josh Uetrecht of St. Louis; two nieces, Heather Perkins and Tessa Crawford, both of Rock Hill, S.C.; and longtime special friend, Carol King, and her sons, James and Bobby, of Sikeston.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Gregory Lynn Halter; and one daughter, Kendra Nichole Gray.

A memorial service will be held for Charles and his brother, Greg, at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3 at the Smith Avenue Church of God in Sikeston.

Arrangements are under the direction of Yarber Mortuary in Mountain View.
