SIKESTON -- Fate wasn't kind for either of the local participates on Friday as both Chad Tibbs and Karsten Tibbs competed in front of their home crowd at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo.

Watching his throw come up short in his attempt to rope the steer, Chad Tibbs was unable to post a time in the tie down roping competition while Karsten Tibbs saw a couple of tight turns cost her in barrel racing.

Taking her first and last turns a little too tight, Karsten Tibbs knocked down two of the three barrels with a penalty of five seconds tacked on to her time for each. The mistakes left her with a time 27.48 seconds to come in last place on the night.

After scores that routinely topped 80 the night prior, Friday's bull riding saw a dip in the overall numbers as Sunshine Schwartz led the night with a ride of 79 on bull "Square Deal".

Only two other riders completed their rides with Clayton Foltyn earning a 75 on "Rivot Gun" while Cooper Davis' pulled out a 70 on "Extreme Makeover" to earn third place on the night.

In barrel racing, Sabra O'Quinn completed her run in 16.73 seconds to take top honors on the night. Mindy Hanna and Rebecca Russell placed second and third with times of 17.06 and 17.23, respectively.

Of the five teams to take part in the team roping event, only two were able to complete their runs with the duo of Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith finishing in 6.5 seconds to win the night.

Brady Tyran and Justin Davis' run of 9.8 seconds left them with second place.

Chad Tibbs wasn't the only tie down roper to face struggles on Friday as only three of the six participates posted times. Will Howell finished his run in 10.4 seconds to edge out Bryson Sechrist, who ran a 10.6, for first place. With a time of 20.4 seconds, Jess Hume took third.

One of the closest competition's of the night was in the saddle bronc riding where Brad Rudolph held off all comers with a score of 81 on horse "Teepee Creeper". Troy Crowsar rode "Little Eva" to a score of 79 for second while Cody Rude and Sterling Crawley tied for third place with scores of 78.

Easily outpacing his competitors, Chance E. Howard posted a run of 4.5 seconds in steer wrestling to take the night. His closest competition was Cody Gardner with a time of eight seconds while Joe Busch took third with a run of 15.3 seconds.

Riding horse "Faded Memories" Matt Bright came away with an 84 in bareback riding to win the night. David Clapp was just a point behind, posting an 83 on "Real Fancy" to take second place while Just McDaniel locked up third place with an 82 on "Yellow Hair".
