Phyllis Hamm
CHAFFEE -- Phyllis R. Hamm, 78, died Sept. 1, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Jan. 23, 1934, in Chaffee, to the late Raymond Earl and Thelma Marie Schott Jones, she was a cook for Chaffee General Hospital, and she retired from Environmental Services at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, the Daughters of St. Ambrose, Chaffee American Legion Post 389 and International Brotherhood Teamsters 573.
On Sept. 23, 1950, she married James Roby Rogers, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1958. On July 20, 1963, she married Norman "Cowboy" Hamm, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1982.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Earl Jones; one granddaughter; one great-stepgranddaughter; and a special friend, Guy Bunyard.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steve and Linda Rogers of New Madrid and Larry Rogers of Seattle; one daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Jim Fowler of Chaffee; one brother, Gary Jones of Chaffee; two sisters, Judy Davis of Chaffee and Cindy Wibbenmeyer of Friedheim; and three grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated today at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop serving as celebrant.
Burial followed at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee was in charge of arrangements.
