LELAND, Miss. -- Arlene Ellen Curtis Brown, 81, of Leland died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at her home.

Born Oct. 2, 1930, in Meadville, Pa., she spent most of her adult life working as an office manager for Dr. Tommy Simmons. She retired in 1999. In 1958, she and her husband moved their family to Mississippi. Since 1967, she was a member of the Leland Presbyterian Church in Leland where she served as youth leader for 20 years and as a deacon, an elder, a Bible leader for the night circle and as a moderator of the morning circle. On Mother's Day, she was awarded an honorary life membership in the Leland Presbyterian Women. She was also a faithful and dedicated member of the LIF Committee, the Social Committee of the church and the Buff Love Sunday School class.

In 1949, she married David Brown who preceded her in death in 1980.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Keith Curtis.

She is survived by: two daughters and a son-in-law, Lauri Sartor of Chester, Va., and Robin and Stanley R. Pace of Sikeston, Mo.; a granddaughter, Emily L. Pace of Springfield, Mo.; and two brothers, David Curtis of Cleveland, Ohio, and Wayne Curtis of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday Aug. 29 at the Leland Presbyterian Church under the direction of Boone Funeral Home of Leland.
