PUXICO -- Juanita Evelyn Ward Sifford, 89, died Sept. 6, 2012, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 2, 1923, in Detroit, to the late Willard Dell and Mary Katherine Greer Ward, she had lived most of her life in Puxico. She was a member of the Puxico Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star, Puxico Chapter No. 422. She was a beautician and had owned and operated her own shop.

On Nov. 30, 1941, in Puxico, she married John "Square" Albert Sifford who preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1999.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Hope Schmidt, Mary Groy, Frances Page and Ruthie Tilton, and one great-grandson, Thor Morines Sifford.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Jeannie McKifford of Sikeston; one son, Jeffrey Wayne Sifford of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Louis Ward of Grand Junction, Colo.; one sister, Carolyn Dillard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, with Eastern Star services at 7 p.m., at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Puxico Cemetery with the Rev. Ricky White of Poplar Bluff officiating.
