Oran pulls off late comeback, Dexter volleyball spikes NMCC

CHAFFEE -- Surrendering four runs in the final three innings on Thursday the Chaffee Lady Red Devils fell to visiting Oran 5-3.

After tying the game at 1-1 with a run in the bottom of the fourth the Lady Devils saw the Lady Eagles put up a three-run rally in the fifth to take the lead once again. Chaffee came back to score a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, but couldn't come back to tie.

One final Oran run in the sixth made up the final.

Tatum May went five innings to pick up the win for the Lady Eagles with Taylor Nenninger and Chrissie Sauceda providing a double and triple to Oran's cause respectively.

For Chaffee, Adrienne had a pair of hits, including a double while Jessie Evan also contributed a double to the Lady Devils' effort.

The loss drop Chaffee just below the .500 mark at 3-4 on the season as they get set to host the Lady Devil Classic on Saturday. They'll start things off with an opening round game against Sikeston at 9 a.m.

Delta 15, Puxico 0

DELTA -- Ciara Coomer pitched a three-inning perfect game as Delta won 15-0 at home Thursday in high school softball action.

Coomer, a sophomore, struck out six in improving to 2-6.

Machela VanGennip had a triple and a double for Delta (2-6). Jenna Henson also had a double for the Bobcats.

VOLLEYBALL

Dexter 25-25, NMCC 9-6

DEXTER -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats had no problem dispatching the visiting New Madrid County Lady Eagles, 25-9 and 25-6, Thursday at the Bearcats Event Center in Dexter.

Dexter's Jessica Lindsey led the Lady Bearcats with nine kills while also adding one dig.

Paige Patterson chipped in four kills while Shyann Jines and Hannah Noe each had three kills.

Dexter and NMCC will both participate in the Dig For Life Classic on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University starting today.

TENNIS

Jackson 9, Charleston 0

CHARLESTON -- The Charleston Lady Bluejays fell 9-0 to visiting Jackson Thursday in Charleston.

The Lady Bluejays managed to win just one game the entire match.
