Downtown Gallery Walks
Walks will continue giving area art fans chance to see local artists and Depot
SIKESTON -- Local art enthusiasts have some good news: Downtown Gallery Walks will continue.
"At our lasting meeting on July 11, the Sikeston Cultural Development Corporation Board of Directors voted to continue with two new programs we began in 2011: the Downtown Gallery Walk and Family Night at the Museum," said Mike Marsh, director of the Sikeston Depot and Museum. "They have both worked out really, really well."
The Downtown Gallery Walks started in May 2011, according to Annie Schuchart, owner of the Front Street Studio and Gallery located at 132 West Front St.
"It was successful -- and has continued to be successful," Schuchart said. "We get a nice crowd and people seem to like it. It gets so crowded in here it's sometimes hard to get around and say hello to everybody."
"We like it, really and truly," said Mary Etta Lancaster, owner of the Sweetgum Gallery and Frame Shop at 113 West Malone Ave.
