CAPE GIRARDEAU -- On Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at 7:27 p.m., Debra Lou Compas, 58, of Cape Girardeau, went home to sing with our Savior and Lord at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 25, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, to Leon Edward and Wilma R. McCallister Compas.

Debra was a graduate of University High in Cape Girardeau. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from William Jewell College and a master's degree in Christian education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She worked for Sears and Burger King in Cape Girardeau and the Missouri Division of Family Services. She was a member of the Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, where she sang in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Compas.

She is survived by: her mother, Wilma Compas of Benton; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Norman Baker of Benton; two aunts, Gerry Burkett of Pacific and Laura Holt of Benton; a niece and great-niece, Amy Whitworth and Kali Whitworth of Panama City, Fla.; a nephew, Norman Baker Jr. of Cape Girardeau; and a huge host of friends and loved ones.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at the Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at the Lynwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating.

Burial will follow at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery in Benton.

Pallbearers will be: Norman Baker Jr., Kevin Holt, Chris Evans, Steve Chappell, Keith McCallister and Kyle Morrow.

Justin Evans will serve as honorary pallbearer.
