Lady Hawks remain perfect

BENTON -- The undefeated Kelly Lady Hawks continued their hot start to the season on Tuesday with a 9-0 win over Twin Rivers.

After a scoreless first frame the Lady Hawks took the lead with a two-run rally in the second before going ahead 5-0 after a three-run third. Kelly scored one more run in the fifth and three in the sixth to make up the final.

Earning the win was starter Kristi Brucker went five innings, allowing two hits and striking out five Lady Royals. Alexis Dock closed the game out with two innings of work where she fanned one.

At the plate Brucker had a team-high three hits on contest, including a double while Morgan LeDure, Stephanie Worth and Julie Worth had two hits each. Stephanie Worth had a home run and both LeDure and Worth doubled. Sydney Vinyard had the Lady Hawks lone other extra-base hit, a double.

Now standing at 7-0 on the season, Kelly will travel to Cape Girardeau today to play the Cape Central Lady Tigers at 4 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL

Dexter 25-25, Scott City 18-3

SCOTT CITY -- The visiting Dexter Lady Bearcats picked up a two-set win over the Scott City Lady Rams on Tuesday, 25-18, 25-3.

Leading the Lady bearcats attack was Shyann Jines with eight kills on the match to go along with two blocks and three digs. Hannah Noe had six assists, six kills and a dig while Alyssa Spear had a team-high eight assists, four kills and three digs.

Julia Hahn had five digs and Paige Patterson had two aces.

Next up, Dexter will host the Bernie Lady Mules on Thursday at 6 p.m.
