EAST PRAIRIE -- Virginia L. Scott, 92, died at 5:25 p.m. Sept. 14, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in New Madrid.

Born June 14, 1920, in Mississippi County, to the late John T. and Emma F. Ivie Johnson, she lived her entire life in Mississippi County where she was a sales clerk for several years with the Falkoff Dime Store in East Prairie and a member of the Church of Christ in Charleston.

On Oct. 31, 1936, she married Lyle F. Scott, who preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1987.

She was also preceded in death by: one daughter Joan Parson; two sons, Jerry Scott and Terry Scott; four brothers, George Johnson, Herschel Johnson, Wesley Johnson and Joe Johnson; and two sisters, Ethel Butler and Mae Coffer.

She is survived by two sons, Douglas Scott of Plainfield, Ind., and Gregory Scott of East Prairie; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Janice and Sid Drummond, Judy and Richard Sutton and Sharon Pruett of East Prairie; two sisters, Daisy Jones of East Prairie and Opal Boofer of Fenton; and 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with Bill Bradley officiating.

Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joey Colson, Riley Colson, Zachary Scott, Scott Parson, Andrew Bennett and Craig Scott.
