ST. LOUIS -- Selma Virginia Howard Betts, 68, died Sept. 14, 2012, in the Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis.
Born July 26, 1944, in Charleston, to the late John Henry and Mozella White Howard, she was a federal worker for 28 years until her retirement.
On Nov. 8, 1965, she married Herman Betts who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Herman Anthony Betts Jr. of St. Louis; one stepson, Jerome Howard of Minnesota; two brothers, Gary Howard of Columbia and Marshall Howard of Charleston; two sisters, Elnora Mims of Chicago and Susan Howard of Charleston; her stepmother, Pearl Anderson Howard of Austin, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until time of services at noon Saturday at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, with Steve Betts officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
