SIKESTON - Shirley Jean Miller, 79, of Sikeston passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Shirley was born Aug. 19, 1933, the daughter of the late Everett and Vesta Smith of Anna, Ill.
She married James A. Davidson, who passed away in 1985. She then married Don Miller Sr. who preceded her in death in 1998. Her son, Allan Davidson, also preceded her in death in 2004.
After graduating business school she spent a large portion of her life working for Southwestern Bell, retiring after 25 years of service. After retirement, she was employed by Bucher and Menz, followed by Menz and Menz. Shirley was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Sikeston where she was active in the choir, among other church activities.
Survivors include: son, Don Davidson of Kennesaw, Ga.; two stepsons, Don Miller Jr. and Charlie Miller of Sikeston; sister, Vivian Herdman of Battle Creek, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Laura Couch and Chris Davidson of Sikeston, Katharyn (Katie) Vann and Phillip Davidson of Atlanta, Carolyn OzVath of Midwest City, Okla., Blake Miller of Jackson, Adam Miller and Ashley Miller of Sikeston and Ellie Miller of Nashville, Tenn.; seven great-grandchildren, Katalina, Kailey and Jackson Couch, Keyven and Trenton OzVath, Ben Austin and Kiefer Miller; along with more loving family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 at First Christian Church with the Rev. Brice Hughes, interim pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
