SIKESTON -- Joe Louis Larry, 74, died Jan. 13, 2013, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center. Born June 18, 1938, in Hughes, Ark., to the late Ike and Daisy Mae Walker Larry, he had lived in Missouri since 1957. He was employed by Essex Group Incorporated in Sikeston until his retirement in 2001 and was a member of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston where he served as a deacon and a member of the Trustee Board...

SIKESTON -- Joe Louis Larry, 74, died Jan. 13, 2013, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.

Born June 18, 1938, in Hughes, Ark., to the late Ike and Daisy Mae Walker Larry, he had lived in Missouri since 1957. He was employed by Essex Group Incorporated in Sikeston until his retirement in 2001 and was a member of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston where he served as a deacon and a member of the Trustee Board.

He married Doris Cannon Larry who preceded him in death in 2009.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Ceola Larry of Killeen, Texas; one daughter, Sholanda Jones of Killeen; eight sisters, Nomia Pittman, Vella Applewhite and Leomia Simpson of Sikeston, Gloria Newman and Pollie Richardson of St. Louis, Martha Rhodes of Bowling Green, Ky., Mary Steel of Memphis, Tenn., and Iona Dunn of Columbia; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Richard Lee, pastor, will officiate.

Burial follow in Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston with the Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
