CHARLESTON -- If ever there was a need for emergency bridge funding, it's now.

During their regular meeting Thursday, Mississippi County commissioners opened bids for the next county bridge replacement project and discussed a way to get other bridges replaced.

Four of the six construction companies that requested plans for the construction of a new bridge on County Road 312 responded with bids.

The apparent low bidder is Joe's Bridge and Grading of Poplar Bluff which offered to build the bridge for $205,516.
