EAST PRAIRIE -- Otis McGill Brooks, 73, died at 3:57 a.m. Feb. 18, 2013, at his home.
Born Sept. 6, 1939, in Lake County, Tenn., to the late Robert Everett and Bertha May Hardin Brooks, he lived most of his life in Mississippi County. He was a self-employed carpenter and of the Baptist belief.
On Sept. 9, 1961, at Dorena, he married Mendia J. Williams, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Angela R. and Bubba Morgan of East Prairie; two sisters, Reva Parker and Lavern Pritchett of East Prairie; and one grandson and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Brooks and William Earl Brooks; two sisters, Hazel Brooks Parnell and Helen Brooks; and one grandson.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday with Buddy Hannah and Sonny Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Terry Williams, Barry Williams, Mike Williams, Steve Riggins, Eric Vines and William "Bill" Brooks.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Leon Williams, Bobby Ray Jones, Ronnie Williams, John Williams and Rick Parker.
