RISCO -- The Risco Tigers rallied around an unfortunate accident Thursday afternoon over visiting Delta C-7.

An early morning car crash involving a Risco counselor and senior sponsor provided the Tigers with extra motivation to pull out a 12-3 win. The person involved in the crash, who was flown to St. Louis, is expected to survive.

"All this happened right around when school started and the kids where really wanting to get this win today," Risco head coach Brandon Blankenship said. "It gave them a little bit more motivation."

Jordon Pavy had a monster day pitching and hitting. The junior pitched all six innings with five strikeouts. He also went 4 for 5 at the plate with three doubles. Brandon Bixler went 2 for 5 with four RBIs with a 3-run home run in the fifth inning.

Risco (4-5) will play today at Auto Zone Park in Memphis, Tenn., against Cooter at 11 a.m.

Oran 11, East Prairie 2

EAST PRAIRIE -- The Oran Eagles routed East Prairie Thursday 11-2 in East Prairie.

Oran (4-2) scored 10 runs in the first three innings with their biggest outburst being six runs in the second. East Prairie scored both their runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Alex Heuring led the Eagles at the plate with two hits and three RBIs. Seth Ressel and Dustin Gebhardt added two RBIs as well.

Chance Tenkhoff picked up the win for Oran throwing six innings and allowing four hits and one walk with five strikeouts. Both runs scored by East Prairie (2-6) were unearned.

Tyler Gilmore led East Prairie with two hits.

NMCC 15, Caruthersville 0

NEW MADRID -- Picking up their fifth straight win to start the year Thursday, the New Madrid County Central Lady Eagles routed visiting Caruthersville 15-0 in three innings on the mercy rule.

NMCC scorched the Lady Tigers for 11 runs in the first inning before rallying for another four runs in the bottom of the third to put the run-rule in effect.

Michaela Townsend picked up the win with a complete game effort where she allowed only one hit and no walks while striking out four.

On offense, five different Lady Eagles came away with two hits in the contest, including Mary Clara Hayes, Madison Zuck, Madison Bond, Dallas Campbell and Chelsea Sylvester. Hayes had NMCC's lone home run while Zuck, Bond and Sylvester each contributed a double.

On the junior varsity side the Lady Eagles picked up a 9-2 win over Caruthersville. Alexa Garner earned the win by going three innings, allowing one hit and one walk while fanning three.

Now at 5-0, NMCC will host a four-team round-robin Saturday where they will play Piggott, Ark., at 11:30 a.m.
