CHARLESTON -- The Mississippi County Historical Society has set out their best outfits for the 45th Annual Dogwood-Azalea Festival.
This isn't the first look at the collection: the Historical Society's open house in December featured a few select pieces from the most recent donations of vintage clothing. But this showing will have significantly more to see.
"At Christmas we only had about four or five pieces displayed," said Tom Graham, Historical Society board member. "There are probably around two dozen pieces on display now -- and that is still only part of the collection."
Many of the period clothing items on display were provided by James M. Thurmond, Graham said.
The clothing belonged to Thurmond's grandmother, Margaret Stephens Moore.
