Sherri Naughton carries a copper pail filled with water from the headwaters of the Mississippi River and a staff with eagle feathers through Sikeston Friday afternoon. Naughton was part of a group walking from Lake Itasca State Park in Minnesota to where the Mississippi River empties into the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana to make people aware of the dangers of pollution in the Mississippi River and urging the public to become involved in the cleanup of the river, which is the second most polluted river in the United States, according to Sharon Day, a spokesperson with the group. The group expect to complete their walk on April 30.
