Dramatic finish highlights Lady Bulldogs' finale

FREDERICKTOWN -- Ending the regular season in dramatic fashion, the Sikeston Lady Bulldogs defeated host Fredericktown 3-2 on penalty kicks Thursday in Fredericktown.

Madison Chaney had both of the Lady Bulldogs goals in regulation to force an overtime where neither team found the net.

When in came down to penalty kicks, Sikeston outshot Fredericktown 4-2 to close out the win. Madison Chaney, Monica Carter, Torrie Helmes and Kendall Moore made the Lady Bulldogs first four shots, leaving the fifth and final attempt unnecessary.

Sikeston finished the regular season 9-12-2 and open the Class 2 District 1 Tournament Monday against host Cape Central at 6 p.m.
