CHARLESTON -- Mississippi County has a price for two major projects to be started soon.

Bids were opened during the regular County Commission meeting Thursday for electrical improvements at the county airport and the construction of a new bridge.

KT Power Systems of Cape Girardeau offered what appears to be the lowest bid for the electrical upgrades at the airport at $372,958.75.

"It looks like they have everything we need," said Angie Franklin, senior engineer for the Crawford, Murphy and Tilley, a consulting firm in St. Louis, regarding required documentation in the bid.

"They're replacing all the lights -- everything electrical," Franklin said, listing the power supply, precision approach path indicator lighting, beacon and runway lights as items to be replaced during this project.

Franklin will review the bid to "make sure all the numbers tally" and "they have all their documents," County Clerk Junior DeLay said.
