Revised map will be submitted to FEMA

SIKESTON -- Sikeston will submit a revised map to FEMA appealing floodplain designations in the city.

The Sikeston City Council approved during their regular monthly meeting held Thursday morning proceeding with the Federal Emergency Management Agency's process for amending designations which went into effect in June.

Amec, the company contacted by FEMA for the flood map modernization project and hired by the city to do a detailed study of the city, will submit the maps revised on the detailed study.

In other business during Thursday's meeting:

* Council members approved as emergency bills an increase in municipal water system rates and an increase in municipal sewer system rates so they will become effective Oct. 1.
