JEFFERSON CITY -- A Troop E Missouri State Highway Patrol officer was among nine public safety officers honored Wednesday for heroic acts performed during 2012.

In a ceremony Wednesday at the State Capitol, Gov. Jay Nixon awarded the Missouri Medal of Valor to nine public safety officers from across the state for their exceptional bravery and heroism in efforts to save lives and protect the public during 2012.

Among the honorees was Cpl. David W. Crank of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop E.
