Katherine Wethington sits with a quilt she sewed that will be raffled at halftime of Friday's game between Sikeston and Jennings. Tickets for the double-bed sized quilt are $1 each or six for $5. Tickets are available from Wethington, who along with her husband M.B., will be selling them before the game and until the drawing at halftime. (Jill Bock, Staff)

SIKESTON -- When Katherine Wethington wants to show her support of the Sikeston Bulldogs, she sits down at her sewing machine.

For the second time, Wethington has pieced a quilt to be raffled to benefit the team. This year the quilt will be raffled as part of Friday's homecoming activities.

The quilt, with its black and red design, is centered with a large bulldog. The quilting, Wethington pointed out, was provided by Estelle Hampton.

A 1955 graduate of Sikeston High School, Wethington recalls the excitement of Sikeston football.

"I didn't miss a football game when I was in high school," she said. "We even had a football game on Thanksgiving Day."
