PREP ROUNDUP: Eagles storm past Zalma, Bulldog freshman fall for first time
EAST PRAIRIE -- With double-digit scoring from six players, the East Prairie Eagles rolled to a 96-59 win over Zalma Thursday night.
The Eagles (4-3) outscored Zalma 49-22 in the second half to put the game away. Damion Tipler and Dustin Bryars each scored 18 points to lead East Prairie. Seth Bays added 15 and Seth Johnson scored 12. Brett Ellis and Mack Marcum chipped in with 11 and 10.
East Prairie will travel to Bloomfield today.

Sikeston 63, Cape Central 31
CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Sikeston eighth grade boys basketball team improved to 9-0 on the season with a 63-31 road win over Cape Central on Thursday.
Sikeston led 16-10 after one quarter and extended the lead to 35-20 by halftime.
They continued to pull away in the second half, taking a 53-26 lead entering the fourth quarter where they enforced the mercy clock on the Tigers.
Sikeston hit eight 3-pointers on the night.
Austin Branch and Fred Thatch each scored 16 points for the Bulldogs.
"We shot the ball extremely well -- probably the best we've shot it all season," Sikeston coach Derek James said. "We played really, really well in the second and third quarters and just wore them down with our pressure."
Sikeston will host Jackson for its final home game on Jan. 20 at 5:30.

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Sikeston freshman team dropped its first game of the season with a 37-32 road loss to Cape Central.
Sikeston (3-1) had taken a 26-22 lead late in the third quarter but Cape Central managed to tie the score entering the fourth. The Bulldogs were out-scored 11-6 in the fourth.
Sikeston drained four 3-pointers in the game but did not attempt a free throw compared to 18 attempts for the Tigers.
Sikeston was led by Sam Cox's 14 points. Phayzun Fobbs added eight.
Sikeston's freshmen will play at Dexter on Monday at 6 p.m.
