CARUTHERSVILLE - A pedestrian was killed when she darted in front of a tractor-trailer rig on Interstate 55.

Amber C. Davis, 38, of Caruthersville was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 11.2 mile marker on Interstate 55 at 10:35 p.m. Monday by Pemiscot County Coroner Jim Brimhall. Her death was the fifth in the Troop E area.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Terry L. Holden, 57, of Horn Lake, Miss., was driving northbound on I-55 at 9:40 p.m. when Davis ran into the path of his vehicle. The vehicle then struck and killed the woman.

Her body was taken to the Pemiscot County Morgue at Hayti.
