Eugene J. Cross, 84, of Jackson, MO passed away peacefully in his sleep, Saturday, February 1, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born November 6, 1929 in Stanley, MO to Talbert E. and Ideal Williams Cross.

Mr. Cross was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received his masters degree in education from the University of Missouri. He taught vocational agricultural and shop at Portageville High School and has also worked for DAEOC. He became Vice President of human resources for Noranda Aluminum Corporation of Nashville, TN, retiring in 1991. Eugene was an avid golfer and bird hunter.

He and Edna E. Graham were married July 23, 1994 at Portageville.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson and a member of the Harvester Sunday School Class at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Edna E. Cross of Jackson, MO, 1 daughter, Susan (Donald) Meyer of O'Fallon, MO, 1 son, Steven E. (Toni) Cross of Manhatten, KS, 2 step-sons, Perry D. (Charlotte) of Jackson, MO and Randall S. (Robbin) Jackson of Wappapello, MO, 2 brothers, MAck "Rusty" Cross of Portageville and Buford "Boots" Cross of Hayti, MO, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 more expected.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 4 brothers.

Visitation was held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5 and funeral services are to be held Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel with Rev. Lucas Clabough officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
