Public works will get some general pay
MINER -- Miner's public works department now works for the city -- but just a little bit.
The Miner Board of Alderman approved Tuesday during their regular monthly meeting paying 5 percent of public works pay from the city's general revenue fund.
Board members were considering who would clean the lobby and bathrooms at the old city hall building where the municipal courtroom and police headquarters are located.
Danielle Patrick, city clerk, explained auditors advised workers paid from a restricted fund such as the city's water and sewer fund can't do work on facilities not related to that restricted fund with pay from that fund.
