KENNETT (SMNS) -- There will be no trial for Shawn Morgan, the Senath man, accused of murdering 3-year-old BreeAnn Rodriguez.

Morgan pled guilty Monday to first degree murder, armed criminal action, and child kidnapping. He will receive two life sentences with no parole, plus 10 years on the armed criminal action count. The sentences will run concurrently.

"I'm pleased to have this resolved. I know the Rodriguez family is. That was a big factor in this," said Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen Sokoloff.

Sokoloff added that a news conference with the Rodriguez family in attendance will be at 10 a.m. today at the Dunklin County Courthouse.

Morgan was arrested in August 2011 for the murder of the child, whose body was found in a drainage ditch several days after she was reported missing.

A trial had been scheduled to begin Aug. 18.
