Eugene L. Smart, of Portageville, was born March 8, 1941 in West Ridge, AR to Kathrine Harveson and Lee Velmer Smart. He passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Portageville at the age of 73.
Eugene was united in marriage to Sheila Whittemore on March 24, 1989 in Hayti, MO. He was retired from Noranda Aluminum, and he loved gardening, his family and his dogs.
Preceding Eugene in death was his father, Lee Velmer Smart, his step-son, Jim Wayne Bradley, 1 brother, Johnny Smart, and 2 sisters, Joann Stevens and Brenda Tucker.
Those who survive him include his wife, Sheila Smart of Portageville, his mother, Kathrine Smart of Harrisburg, AR, 2 sons, Danny (Terry) Smart of Dexter, MO and David (Amy) Smart of Spanaway, WA, 1 step-son, Chris Bradley of Portageville, 1 daughter, Jessica Smart of Portageville, 3 brothers, Eudell Smart of Hagshore, MI, Lynn Smart and Don Smart, both of Harrisburg, AR, 2 sisters, Nellie Willis and Edith Holcomb, both of Harrisburg, AR, and 8 grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday, April 8, 2014, and funeral services were held Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at DeLisle Funeral Home with Reverend Eugene Poole officiating. Eugene's final resting place is in Portageville Cemetery.
