CHAFFEE -- Jumping out of the gate with an eight-run rally, the Chaffee Red Devils took down Oak Ridge 10-0 in five innings on Wednesday via the mercy-rule.

The Red Devils' eight run first was followed by three innings of silence. They put together one final two-run rally in the bottom of the fifth to end the game early.

Cody Payne and Storm Estes combined to hold Oak Ridge to just three hits. Estes picked up the win in throwing four of those innings, where he gave up all three hits, but held the Bluejays scoreless and struck out two. Payne was flawless in his inning, striking out four and neither pitcher walked a batter.

Chaffee collected 12 hits in the outing with Devon Yahn, Jordan Kinder, Payne, Layton Tenkhoff and Estes each contributing two hits. Yahn's two hits came in the form of a double and a triple as he drove in three runs and collected a walk.

Estes had the team's only other extra-base hit, a double.

Next up, the Red Devils play at Saxony Lutheran today at 4 p.m.

CAPE GIRARDEAU (SMNS) -- Josh Haggerty had four hits including two doubles in the Bulldogs (16-2) win over the Eagles at home.

Graham Ruopp picked up the win for Notre Dame, striking out four batters in six innings.

Roupp did not give up an earned run and held New Madrid to four hits.

JACKSON (SMNS) -- Bruce Simmons picked up the win for the Bluejays (7-7) on the road.

Simmons struck out 12 and gave up five runs in five innings. Simmons also had a double and went 2 for 5.

For the Crusaders, Jack Lake and Tyler Dowdy each had a double. Dowdy and Paris Johnson led all Saxony hitters with two hits.

Down 12-5 after four innings, the Crusaders scored five runs in the seventh but came up one run short of tying the game.

JACKSON (SMNS) -- Notre Dame's Jack Litzelfelner was the medalist with a 35. The Bulldogs also beat the rest of the field in team play by 11 strokes. Sikeston finished second with a 161. Central, which was without conference champion Travis Simmons, rounded out the scoring with a 177.

CAPE GIRARDEAU (SMNS) -- Kelly's Derrick Garner earned medalist honors with a 39 through nine holes at Cape Jaycee Golf Course.

DEXTER -- The Sikeston boys tennis team lost 8-1 to Dexter on the road Wednesday.

Layton Jones gave Sikeston it's only win of the day taking down Noah Kronk 8-3.
