Speakout
((Oldie but goodie
I would like to know if anybody knows how old Richland School is? It must be brand new because it was one of the Top Ten High Schools in the 2014 U.S. News and World Report. According to the Sikeston Board of Education, they have to have a $23 million school to make the top ten.
We called Richland Schools to get an answer to your question. A spokesperson said the school was built either in 1961 or '62.
Who yanked my chain?
Somebody has stolen or taken a long chain, looks like a mother-of-pearl with a beige setting, they've taken it from me. I think I know who did it but I'm not for sure yet. If somebody has it, it belongs to me. Please return it to me. My number is 380-6821. It's a piece of jewelry that I treasure.
Vote for person, not animal
I get so irritated with people who go to the polls and vote for a donkey or an elephant. After voting they will say that they don't know who they voted for but that's the way they have always voted and at least they voted. It's the voter's job to learn which candidate would be the best and then vote for that person. There are good candidates and duds in both parties. Check them out and keep our country strong. We need those who will follow our Constitution, not someone who is only interested in the prestige of the office. Vote for the person, not the donkey or the elephant.
A tear in her lemonade
I don't know why in the world people worry so much about who sales liquor and who don't. It wouldn't bother me if they didn't sell any liquor and they closed all the bars down. People don't have to drink and slop around everywhere they go. Grocery stores are supposed to sell groceries, not liquor and stuff. Cut the liquor clean out. People shouldn't have to have liquor and get drunk when they get together. That's ridiculous. The bars are protesting the grocery stores selling liquor. The bars should close down too. We don't need none of that stuff. We don't need whiskey and beer. People spend a lot of their money on that stuff and act stupid and it breaks up homes. Take the liquor plum out of the grocery stores. When people have Christmas parties and Mother's Day celebrations and drink and slop around, what are they teaching their children? All they want to do is drink, not have fun with their children or family. It's ridiculous.
