SIKESTON -- A robbery at a local check-cashing business is under investigation by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.

At about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a panic alarm at Check Into Cash, located at 1305 S. Main St.

When officers arrived, they spoke with an employee who said a black male entered the store and demanded cash, according to a news release from Capt. Jim McMillen, Sikeston DPS public information officer.

"It was believed that the offender was armed so the employee said she gave the man an undetermined amount of cash. She was not injured during the incident," he said.

Investigators processed the crime scene and searched for evidence in the surrounding area. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male wearing a black long-sleeved shirt with a hood and black pants.
