SIKESTON -- When 5-year-old Sam McGill goes to the Sikeston Public Library to pick out a book, he wants to read about dinosaurs.
So when Sam sat down last year to paint a tile to become a permanent part of the planned basement renovations at the Library, he drew his favorite thing -- a dinosaur.
Little brother, Jack, who was 2 at the time, likes anything Sam does. But his tile, said mom Sarah McGill, turned out as more of "a blob."
But both boys, she added, had a great time painting their tiles. In fact, she said, now that they are a year older, they might take part in Saturday's last scheduled tile painting session to create two more tiles.
The tile painting is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sikeston Public Library. The cost is $25 per decorated tile with the money going to help fund the Library's basement renovation, which will get underway soon.
McGill said her sons love going to the Library and she wanted them to do something to help promote the renovations.
