The Portageville Lady Bulldogs recently competed at the Licking Volleyball Camp in Osage Beach, Mo. There were two teams and competed against some of the most talented competition in the state as well as other states. There were 32 teams in all at the camp. Teams Portageville competed against included:
Eldon, MO; Fairfiled, Iowa (23-14 last year); Fair Grove, Missouri (28-8 last year). They finished Fourth in the state in Class 2.
Fort Zumwalt West (20-11 last year); Camdenton, Mo.; Jefferson HS (27-6 last year), lost in district finals to eventual state runner-up St. Pius-
Hollister, MO; Liberty, Illinois (28-11 last year); and Lincoln, Illinois (Had 6 teams at the camp).
"Our team one, all seniors, competed in the top eight bracket which was great for our team," said Coach Barry Branscum. "Our team two, all juniors, sophomores, and one freshman, made it to the championship game of their divison before falling to Fort Zumwalt West."
"The camp was very competitive and our teams represented our school and community in a great way. Thanks to everyone that helped in our fundraiser that made the camp possible," he added.
