JACKSON -- A hat trick from Sam Cox gave Sikeston a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes.

That lead wouldn't hold.

Jackson climbed back to defeat the Bulldogs 4-3 in overtime Tuesday.

"After that first 20 minutes it seemed like Jackson wanted it more than we did," Sikeston head coach Gabe Dement said. "You can't give a team like Jackson a chance at momentum especially at home. We had our chances but we were just going through the motions I felt."

An assist from Adam Johnson and then two more from Audie Hay led to Cox's three quick goals. Jackson answered with a goal off a corner kick but still trailed the Bulldogs 3-1 at the half.

Jackson picked up another goal off a rebound from close range and then tied the game with eight minutes to go sending it into overtime.

"We played pretty solid first half," Dement said. "Silly mistakes in the second led to goals for Jackson and they came out on fire in the overtime."

Sikeston (5-7) has lost three games in row starting with Notre Dame a week ago, then Poplar Bluff on Thursday.

Sikeston will travel to Anna-Jonesboro, Ill., Thursday for their next contest.
