The Portageville Lady Bulldogs made several errors in the finals of the Bootheel Conference Tournament last Thursday. They lost to Malden in two sets, 22-25 and 13-25. the tournament was played in Hayti.

The night before in the semifinals, the Lady dogs played Campbell in the semi-final rounds and won in two, 25-13, 25-11.

"We played very good. Our serving was very consistent and effective and our defense really allowed us to get into all of our offensive plays last night and our hitters did a great job of finding spots on the floor to score points," said Head coach Barry Branscum. This will be there first appearance since 2007 in the championship game.

Portageville was to play in Piggott this Monday, but that game was cancelled due to severe weather.

They will be back in play on Thursday hosting Gideon. This will be their senior night and pink out night.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 20th, Portageville High School will host the Class 2A District Volleyball Tournament. Portageville has the first seed and will have a first round bye.

Tournament action on Monday will see:

(2) Malden vs. (7) Caruthersville, at 4:30

(3) New Madrid Co. Central vs. (6) Sewnath-Hornersville at 6:00

(4) South Pemiscot vs. (5) Hayti at 7:30

The semi-final and finals will begin a 5 PM on Tuesday.
