SIKESTON -- With lots of specials, a large dance floor and good food, JP's Place is quickly becoming the place to be.

Located on US Highway 61, just north of Scott County Central schools, the bar and grill is open on Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.

"It's a clean, friendly environment," said owner Jeremy Perrien.

The business, which opened in February, is large on the inside with plenty of seating and offers a 1,200-square foot dance floor.

JP's Place holds karaoke on Thursdays and Fridays and weekly drink specials.

"Saturday night is Ladies Night and we have Thirsty Thursdays with all drinks discounted," Perrien said. "We also have live bands."

There are also multiple games available to play, including pool and patrons can watch the big game on television sets or a big projection screen.

One of the biggest draws to JP's Place is the food, which some customers call "the best burgers in the area."

Besides hamburgers, Perrien said they have a full menu with grilled chicken sandwiches, chicken strip baskets and pizzas.

"The pizzas have gone over very well," Perrien said. "I go to St. Louis once a week and pick them up. They have provolone cheese and people really like them."

An authentic Irish dinner is also offered on Thursdays and JP's Place also has food delivery if a minimum amount is ordered.

Another draw Perrien said is that food is served until they close.

A sheriff's deputy for nine years, Perrien said the business thrives to stay clean and friendly. Any disruption is dealt with quickly and the establishment has a dress code of no sagging pants and no gang-related clothing. Nobody under the age of 21 is allowed in the business after 9:30 p.m.

Patrons also have access to a shuttle service to ensure safe travel. Those going to JP's can call and make arrangements, and group rates are available.

Perrien said with the ample space it is a perfect place for holding Christmas parties or get-togethers like wedding or birthday parties.

"This is by far the cleanest, friendliest place there can be," said Lonnie Hargrove who is a customer at JP's Place.
