CHARLESTON -- An East Prairie man facing a felony charge for making text threats will be arraigned Wednesday in Mississippi County.

Paris Daunte Tipler, 27, is charged with receiving stolen property, a class C felony punishable upon conviction by up to seven years imprisonment in the Missouri Department of Corrections; and violation of an Order of Protection, a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in the county jail.

According to Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore, the investigation began Thursday, when Chief Deputy Charlie Marcum was contacted by a Mississippi County resident who had received threatening text messages from Tipler.

The caller advised that due to a Full Order of Protection entered against him, Tipler was prohibited from communicating with her.

A short time later, as Marcum and Deputy Mike Borders were en route to the caller's location, the caller reported that Tipler was outside of her residence.

Upon their arrival, Moore and the two deputies located Tipler and placed him under arrest for violating the order of protection. He was then transported to the Mississippi County Detention Center.

The subsequent investigation revealed Tipler had sent the threatening text messages to the victim from a stolen cell phone, Moore said.

As of press time, Tipler remained in jail with bond set at $25,000. He is scheduled to appear at 9:15 am. Wednesday in Mississippi County Associate Court before Judge T. Lynn Brown.
