CHARLESTON -- Three Bertrand family members were charged following an assault investigation at a Mississippi County residence.
Margo Nicole Raithel, 31, of Bertrand, is charged with second-degree assault, a class C felony punishable upon conviction by up to seven years imprisonment; and two counts of third-degree domestic assault, each punishable by up to one year in the county jail.
Darrel Eugene Wilkerson, 26, and Evelyn Inez Vanwinkle, 50, both of Bertrand, were each charged with third-degree domestic assault, each punishable by up to one year in the county jail.
According to Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore, the investigation began Sunday when Deputy Marc Tragesser was dispatched to a domestic assault in progress.
Upon his arrival, Tragesser was met outside the residence by Raithel who was reportedly assaulted by her brother (Wilkerson) and mother (Vanwinkle). Further investigation revealed Raithel had also assaulted her mother.
At that time, Tragesser placed the mother-daughter duo under arrest for assaulting one another and transported both to the Mississippi County Detention Center.
A short time later, Tragesser located and arrested Raithel's brother, Darrel Wilkerson, and transported him to the Mississippi County Detention Center.
Bond for Raithel was set at $25,000 while bonds for Wilkerson and Vanwinkel were were set at $1,500 each. All three were released from custody after posting their respective bonds.
