COLUMBIA --The Missouri State Public Defender System has appointed Susan Warren as District Defender of the Caruthersville trial office, replacing Brandon Sanchez.

Warren, a resident of New Madrid County for the last 14 years, graduated from Saint Louis University with a B.A. in Political Science in 1997 and a Juris Doctorate degree in 2000.

Warren's legal career started as an Assistant Public Defender. In 2003, she opened her own private practice, Law Offices of Susan R. Warren, L.L.C. in Portageville, where she continued to represent criminal defendants and try dozens of criminal jury and bench trials, as well as represent indigent clients in Post-Conviction Relief hearings. Warren has also taught continued legal education classes for the Missouri Bar through-out her career.

"It is a pleasure to return to the Missouri Public Defender Office in Caruthersville where my legal career began. I am privileged to have this opportunity to serve the indigent clients of the 34th Judicial Circuit and direct such a wonderful staff," said Warren.

Warren and her husband, Michael, have made Portageville their home since 2003. They have one daughter and son-in-law, Christopher and Ashleigh Scobey. Christopher is in the United States Air Force and the couple is stationed in Tucson, Arizona.
