CHARLESTON -- A month-long investigation has led to the arrest of a Mississippi County resident.

Kevin Wayne Jones, 34, of East Prairie was arraigned Wednesday on two felony counts of receiving stolen property valued at more than $500, according to Missouri Case.net.

Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore said the investigation began in January when Chief Deputy Charlie Marcum received a complaint from a local business regarding the theft of various items from its property. Marcum's investigation revealed Jones had taken items from the farm and sold the equipment as scrap metal, Moore said in a news release.

A warrant was obtained for Jones' arrest and on Feb. 13, he was booked into the Mississippi County Detention Center. The Sheriff reported a videotaped interview with Jones further established probable cause to believe Jones was involved in stealing the items.

Jones was released from custody after posting a $25,000 surety bond.
