SIKESTON -- Nationally ranked and boasting a 26-2 record coming in, Webster Groves was as good as advertised Saturday as they faced host Sikeston for a spot in the Class 3 final four.

Scoring four goals in the first six minutes alone, Webster Groves cruised to an 8-0 final that ends Sikeston's season and represents Webster Groves' 24th shutout of the season.

"In the first half that early goal hurt and then they started pouring it on," Sikeston head coach Gabe Dement said. "The wind was out of our sails at little bit at that point in time. It's tough to stay motivated when something like that happens, but I didn't think we stopped playing hard. I just don't think we played smart soccer in the first half."

Senior Maddie Pokorny got things going for Webster Groves just over two minutes in after working around a pair of defenders in the box and sending a low shot into the left corner of the net.

It was barely a minute later when Allie Thomas finished off a corner kick to make it 2-0 for the first goal of her hat trick performance.

By the end of the sixth minute the Statesmen were up 4-0 before scoring another four goals in the final 20 minutes to take an 8-0 lead into the break.

Sikeston held Webster Groves scoreless in the second half to prevent the 10-goal mercy rum from coming in effect, but could never find the net themselves.

Sikeston ends the year at 16-11 after earning its first district title in school history. They'll return all but senior Kyra Rainwater next season.
