CHARLESTON -- Mississippi County has updated 911 agreements with the cities of Charleston and East Prairie in place.

Mississippi County commissioners approved an updated E-911 agreement with the city of East Prairie during their regular meeting Thursday. The same agreement with the city of Charleston was approved during their June 4 meeting.

Under the agreement, the cities provide all personnel for operation of 911 centers and the county agrees to provide all the equipment, according to County Clerk Junior DeLay.

The original agreement was approved not long after 911 service was established in the county, according to DeLay, which was in the 1980s, he recalled.
