SIKESTON -- It only took one meeting for Ryan Lindsey to become involved in the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo.
Lindsey recalled he accompanied a couple of friends to Sikeston Jaycee meeting in October 2008. Before the night was over, he not only was a member, but also the co-chairman of the Rodeo ticket office.
Today, Lindsey, 31, is heading up the entire four-days of the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo as its chairman.
According to Lindsey after his first rodeo, he knew he wanted to be Rodeo chairman. Before tackling that job, he served as the club's treasurer in 2011, was elected its president in 2012 then served two years on the Rodeo Board of Directors.
"I was elected co-chairman in 2014. When elected as co-chairman, you spend that year learning as much as you can about the chairman's duties for Rodeo, which leads to your chairman year. It is a two-year process," he said. "I've had some great mentors along the way."
