Barrel racing, steer wrestling highlight second night of slack during Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo

Both events in Tuesday's edition of slack at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo featured tough competition near the top of the leaderboard with the top 10 barrel racers finishing less then a third of a second apart.

SIKESTON -- Both events in Tuesday's edition of slack at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo featured tough competition near the top of the leaderboard with the top 10 barrel racers finishing less then a third of a second apart.

Meghan Johnson was the time to beat in the event with a run of 16.52 seconds while Jessi Fish's second place ride was just two-hundredths of a second slower at 16.54.

Third place was occupied by Kara Posch at 16.58 seconds and Jaime Barrow took fourth with a time of 16.61. Rounding out the top five was Layna Knight with a ride of 16.66 seconds.

In steer wrestling, Bray Armes was at the top of the pack with an aggregate time of 9.4 seconds in his two go-rounds.

Armes first go-round was his best, downing his steer in four seconds flat while a slower second go-round of 5.4 seconds still left him in the top spot at the end of the night.
